In conjunction with Sir David Adjaye, architect extraordinaire, Master & Dynamic designed and developed its first loudspeaker. The MA770 loudspeaker utilized resin-impregnated concrete for its acoustic qualities, but also had a wonderful brutalist look, fitting for a collaboration with one of America’s most infamous architects.
The blend of faceted and curved surfaces made this speaker stand out while also fitting within a loudspeaker’s normal boxy form factor. I was in charge of creating early cardboard proportional studies and pushing forward the development of the magnetically-mounted front grill screen.
